Experts in Substrate Heating

Refractory Metals

At Thermic Edge, we innovate, develop and manufacture core Ultra High Vacuum (UHV) technologies with market-leading quality and superior performance.

Tantalum

Tantalum is dark blue/grey in colour and is very dense, ductile and highly conductive of heat and electricity. Tantalum is renowned for its resistance to corrosion by acids, at temperatures below 150 ̊C it is almost completely immune to corrosion by aqua regia. Tantalum’s high melting point of 3017 °C (boiling point 5458 °C) is exceeded by only a few other elements including tungsten and rhenium.

The following industries use Tantalum:

  • Vacuum furnace
  • Electronics
  • Aerospace
  • Telecommunications
  • Medical
